Dear Members of Arlon HC,
As I’m sure you are aware the club has significantly grown over the last few years. With the Club growing and fielding more teams it also means we need to find more coaches, managers and umpires for all the teams.
The Club has recently finalised its coaches and managers for the 2018-19 season. Thank you to all who are volunteering in these positions.
This season Arlon HC is introducing a new volunteering policy, which will mean club members must assist the club by umpiring games. The old model relied on 6 key individuals volunteering every weekend, which is not a sustainable model as the club moves forward.
The new model will see players rostered to umpire matches from divisions below theirs. These players will be rotated fairly and should be expected to umpire one match every 2/3 months. It will also encourage parents from each team to contribute with umpiring. Therefore, the aim is to have at least 3 parents from each team assisting the club with umpiring.
To get this model up and running, the club will also organise trainings sessions in the different teams – masterclass, live situation at trainings, online course and exam for full pitch games – for parents and for players from U14.
Anyone who is umpiring full team pitch games will be required to take a first basic umpiring exam from the federation. If you haven’t taken your exam yet, expect the club to contact you soon.
On the first weekend, we have had 3 new volunteers who have helped with umpiring accordingly to the new model. A special thank you to Elise, Noa and Basile for their help during those days.
Who will be the next volunteer this Saturday/Sunday? Remember every player will be rostered, so no need to hide ...
A special thanks to all of you for your time and involvement in this great new project !
Matt Cook and the Arlon Hockey Club Committee.
